Counter Strike Source: GRIM North America - Highly competitive, did ladder style competitions for real money, very well organized, fraps every matchup, coordinated attacks, fun scrimmages, etc etc.

World of Warcraft: Syndicate of Stealth - I was the clan leader, well renown on my server for being one of the best pvp druids on there. Played an insane amount of time (went a year unemployed off of savings), performed some simple stealth tactics in open world pvp, dueled a LOT - did lots of 1v1 and some group play. Hated 40 man raids, and instances where stealth meant nothing. Loved open world pvp but hated how carebear the game became.

I've played a wide variety of games, from carebear to competitive. From Star Control II to EvE Online. From Ocarina of Time to Guitar Hero. From Diablo 1 to Diablo 3, etc etc. I SUCK at real time strategy games, I'm at my best in First Person Shooter deathmatch mode (free for all).

8 What you are looking for in clan?
I've had my eye on Darkfall on and off for literally years. Back in 2007 or 2008ish (not sure), I was very active on the MMORPG.com forums because I was looking for a WoW replacement. Saw Darkfall, it was absolutely everything I wanted so I watched it like a hawk. Eventually I got a bad case of the GAS (Gaming Abstinence Syndrome) and the game came out while I was too busy banging chicks and going to the gym. I just finished getting my second character in Diablo 3 into Inferno and I'm getting bored with it, so I did some searching for a "Free for all pvp" game, and found myself looking at Darkfall again. I'm basically just looking for people to play with and to have an accelerated level-up so I can get on a competitive level with the vets.

Sounds like a good fit for Darkfall and Absolution.

Why now? Bored of Diablo 3. Why this clan? Because I originally made a post on the DF forums asking about the game and somebody linked me to Uzik's Ultimate Darkfall Guide video. After watching that + Valroth's starter vids I decided to give the game a go. I found a thread made by Uzik and decided to email him, briefly explaining myself and asking if he could suggest any clans. This clan was one of the suggestions. As a result of that, here I am.

We only have one other Canadian in the clan, and he's a newfie. Do you feel like you can challenge him for Top Canadian in clan?

Well Alberta is where all the oil is, wouldn't be much of a competition ;-P

To be fair though I'm actually a dual citizen, born in Greenville, South Carolina.

Darkfall uses a "Firstname Lastname" system, and both are required. Just an FYI -- You could use "Flying Scorpion" for example.

Question: I want to play Mahirim but Uzik said Human lands fair better for newbs. How much of a disadvantage will I be at?

Second: I see posts about this build called "Destroyer" That's supposedly more expensive in gear than mage. What's this destroyer build?
In videos it seems that almost 90% of the combatants are mages, and in the tutorial videos almost everyone follows this same thing: Get less magic to lvl x, then greater magic to y, then witchcraft and (something else) to level z.

What about melee? Is melee not a viable build? Is "Destroyer" melee? I understand that the life-stamina-mana conversion spells are too useful to ignore, no matter what you play, but yeah...what about melee? Also: claws? Good or not good? I read somewhere that it's best to go with 2 handed swords. (unless your an orc, then go greataxe)

K Here's my account.

Destroyers are amazing in sieges and group fights, but their gear is more expensive (like 6x more), and they can be tough to 1v1 as unless you have amazing ping and archery aim.

It used to be that leveling melee/archery was wayyyyyy easier/faster than magic. It's still the case, but with 20x speed, it won't really be an issue either way.

Depends on your playstyle & wealth.

edit: also, Uzik has a hard on for humans. You can move to humanlands, but you are better off moving to our clan holding (Andruk) and living there. It's equally hard/easy to do so from anywhere. Dwarf/Ork is closest.

That destroyer combat looks sick. I like archery, it was my preferred method of fighting back when I played on an open world/full loot pvp minecraft server.



What about claws though? Are they pretty "meh"? They looks cool back when I was looking at DF in 2008. IIRC there's some sort of bonus that the Mahirim get with claws on certain moon cycles or something.

That's a huge let down. They looked BADASS back in the development stages. Oh well, I'm probably going to follow Valroth's accelerated levelling guide and go with greatswords and skinning, plus some lesser magic like health self, edlritch sphere and heath to mana.

Then move on to power attack, more lesser magic and greater magic: rend.

Then move on to wirlwind, archery, witchcraft: needles, an elemental buff and maybe some crafting.

Destroyers are the shit.

What does "Racial r80" mean?

The racial rank 80 weapons.
